Newsie automates the creation of broadcast news video clips for digital distribution. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, Newsie segments and labels stories with critical metadata in real-time, generating social posts and a digital archive to power a 'Netflix' of news.
Mark has worked as a journalist in TV and radio for more than a decade. Before co-founding Newsit, he led the coverage of Victoria’s 2022 state election for 9News as state political reporter, was at the coalface of Melbourne’s COVID lockdowns and was among the first to report live from the scene of the Bourke Street massacre. His love of tech and innovation has inspired collaborations with Google and Apple on Australian stories, from the depths of WA’s Ningaloo Reef to Tasmania’s Giant Kelp Forests. Mark holds a degree in Media and Communications from the University of Melbourne.
