The Gather Group Co. builds technology to improve informal care and reduce healthcare costs. Informal care, provided by family and friends, forms the foundation of how we manage chronic illness, disability and ageing in Australia.
Each year, at least 2.8 million Australians provide 2.2 billion hours of care – and many are barely coping. When they are no longer able to cope, the burden of care shifts to our acute health care system at extraordinary expense.
The Gather Group Co. builds technology to tackle this problem. Its bespoke software brings people together to act as ‘carer networks’, then provides each network with the tools and education they need to improve informal care, reduce carer burnout, limit avoidable hospital admissions, and keep healthcare costs down.
Susan is a registered psychologist and health consultant. She has worked in public health and the not-for-profit sector for the past 20 years. Susan has developed clinical psychology services, conducted collaborative psychosocial research projects, led the development of Australian clinical guidelines for adolescent and young adult cancer patients, and has worked with large health organisations in her capacity as a health consultant advising on health design and service delivery.
She is a Churchill Fellow and has a PhD in adolescent trauma. A passion to build healthier and stronger communities around those dealing with chronic conditions has been combined with this clinical, research and consulting experience to build The Gather Group Co.
Chris is the founder and co-founder of a number of companies, all with a digital and technology focus, including The Gather Group Co. Utilising his finance background Chris founded Lifebroker, a company that pioneered the digital space for life insurance. Lifebroker grew to be the largest life insurance broker in Australia. Most recently Chris has focused on sophisticated phone habit technology currently used to understand consumer behaviours.
Chris has over 20 years executive experience in building consumer brands. As a senior retail executive in both ANZ and international markets, his experience includes leading the transformation of some of Australia’s biggest brands as well as expansion to new markets throughout Asia. Prior to co-founding Gather Group, Chris was based in Hong Kong managing the APAC region for a global apparel brand.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Arts from University of Melbourne and has completed further education at Melbourne Business School and the AICD.
